The main types of flue gas dampers

Shut-off and multileaf dampers are optimized and customized according to customer specifications. The sturdy design guarantees trouble-free functioning under the most extreme operating conditions, thus offers maximum reliability.

Special materials, blade designs and sealing systems allow these valves to be used in the most extreme environments.
Up to 100% flue gas tight dampers with short mounting dimensions, low sealing air consumption and modular design for external equipment (limit switches, actuators, manual overrides, ...). The dampers have a manual locking device for maintenance and safety.

Our SBD and TBD dampers have been DVN/GL certified. In 2019 we received the extended DNV GL certificate that HMT SBD and TBD dampers are certified and meet the self-cleaning requirement of DNV GL Rules Pt. 4 Ch.6 Sec.8 [3.3.11].

Our customers are Shipyards and scrubber suppliers from Europe and the world. To date our dampers are installed in over 500 vessels of all sizes.
When a high degree of sealing or a free flow cross-section in the open position is required, gate valves are used. For industrial applications to shut off air/flue gas flows, valves in various geometric shapes are used.

Depending upon the valve size drives are either spindle, belt, and rack and pinion.

Crossed-out 3-way butterfly valves: The function of a gas diverter/3-way butterfly valve is to divert and optionally control gaseous media. A typical application is in a gas plant or in a steam turbine power plant. Hot exhaust gases of a turbine are vented to an exhaust gas heat exchanger or an exhaust gas stack to the outside air.

Due to different pressure and temperature application, particular requirements for design and construction are needed. High-temperature applications (e.g. in the gas turbines) are a challenge. The selection of suitable materials to deal with thermal expansion require know how and appropriate design.
Chimney dampers are installed in a chimney to minimize heat loss and prevent rainwater entering. Inclined wings drain rainwater to the metal sealing strip collection channel. The rainwater draines into a plant's sewage system. If needed these flaps can be made with a self-opening pressure relief function
Swing dampers provide a high degree of sealing tightness. Based on the small circumference (seal length) of the blades, the closing force is unidirectional and precisely defined around the entire blade circumference. The dampers are driven directly by a peripheral shaft or indirectly by a clamping lever system.
Based upon the requirements, all valve types can be designed without a seal, a metallic stop, can be soft-sealing, metallic flexible or 100% tight with sealing air. To do this double seal gaps are formed which can be pressurized with sealing air and are thus "man-safe" according to UVV.
Considering customer specifications and applications, a wide variety of drive technologies can be used. HMT system design uses renown OEM Electric actuators, variable-speed drives, pneumatic and electro-hydraulic drives - also with fail-safe function. The systems are designed, assembled, installed and finally HMT quality control.
